Teams and Team Development
Creation of High Performance Teams
Teams
are not new; however, teamwork is often missing or even seen as unnecessary.
Whenever people have gathered to work together to accomplish a complex task
that cannot be accomplished by a talented individual, they have, consciously
or not, formed teams. The validity of teams over the years stems from the synergy
that comes from the cooperative effort of team members. Since teams are the
building blocks of organizations, helping organizational teams work effectively
is an essential part of an effective organization. The global economy is also
stretching this concept of a team into a new model where members are distributed
globally and participation is virtual.
SSI's systems approach to teambuilding is an essential component of all our
work with clients. We first validate the need for a team versus individual work.
If a team is needed, it is built around groups of people in an organization
who come together in one room or virtually to work interdependently to accomplish
a common purpose.
Much has been researched and written about team building. In addition to our
customized teambuilding and teamwork models, we utilize the work of Allan Drexler,
principal developer of the Drexler/Sibbet Team PerformanceTM Model.
Drexler's material represents an optimal mix of theory, research and practice
- the essentials for understanding and facilitating effective team building.
In addition, we utilize the concepts of other team experts and construct customized
approaches to team building and teamwork.
