SSI Organizational Analysis Process Summary
A Structured Approach to Organizational Improvement

Strategic Source, Inc. customizes and implements an organizational analysis
process when clients share symptoms, issues or problems that indicate a need
for "improving" or "fixing" their organization.
I. Initial NEEDS ANALYSIS, definition of project approach and scope
II. Preliminary PROPOSAL PREPARATION for initial phase of work and outline
of remaining phases of the project
III. CLIENT APPROVAL of initial phase and commitment of budget and staff
involvement
IV. INITIAL PHASE may include some or all of the following steps:
- Information gathering
- Initial analysis
- Design of introductory staff meeting on topic of organizational
analysis
- Analysis of outcomes to date
- Creation of updated project proposal
Between these phases we pause for client reflection and approval of next
steps
V. ADVANCED INFORMATION GATHERING
This work involves the use of a variety of published or customized valid and
reliable methodologies, instruments, and processes.
VI. DESIGN AND FACILITATION of Management Team Organizational Analysis
Workshop(s)
NOTE: Based on results of the above, participative workshops deal with issues
such as:
- Clarity of roles and responsibilities
- Current state/desired state of strategic and tactical plans
- Assessment of fit of current organization with the strategic plan
of the organization
- Application of our proprietary the Human Performance Improvement
Process to assess the organization
VII. ANALYSIS OF INFORMATION gathered from Phases I - VI and DESIGN
of initial organizational development improvements (done with significant input
from organizational leaders). Work session to improve and approve design outcomes.
VIII. DEVELOPMENT of organizational development/improvement plans that
may include such actions as strategic and tactical plan updates, organizational
structure changes, staffing decisions, developmental assignments, improved role
definition, mentoring, coaching assignments etc.
IX. IMPLEMENTATION of the development/improvement plans by the organizational
leaders using facilitation and coaching by SSI.
X. MEASUREMENT AND ASSESSMENT of the impact of the above work on the
effectiveness of the organization.
The outcome of this process is people working together effectively in an organization
that can accomplish the mission and strategy.
