Karen Lawson, Senior Consultant

Karen
Lawson serves as a senior consultant for SSI as well as principal of Lawson
Consulting, Inc. and has a diverse career as a consultant, writer and speaker
with extensive experience in the areas of communication, management, quality
service and team development across a wide range of industries. She has conducted
public workshops and has been a featured speaker at several professional conferences.
An adjunct faculty member for the University of Delaware and Villanova University,
she has also taught courses for Saint Joseph's University and the Rochester
Institute of Technology. She specializes in organization and management development.
Karen has served as president of both the Philadelphia-Delaware Chapter of
ASTD and the Liberty Bell Speakers' Association. Other professional society
memberships include the National Speakers' Association, Organization Development
Network, Philadelphia Human Resources Planning Group and Financial Women International.
She is author of The Art of Influencing, New Employee Orientation Training,
The Trainers Handbook, Train-the-Trainers Facilitator's Guide, 50 Communication
Activities, Involving Your Audience: Making It Active, Improving On-the-Job
Training and Coaching, and Improving Workplace Performance Through Coaching.
She is co-author of 101 Ways to Make Training Active and has published dozens
of articles in trade publications. She also served as consultant and on-camera

As a former training director for a large thrift institution in upstate New
York, Karen was responsible for internal training, organization development
and career counseling. Other banking experience includes positions in branch
management. Karen is past Director of the National Sales and Marketing Professional
Practice Area of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD).
Karen holds a Doctorate in Adult and Organization Development from Temple
University. She earned a B.A. in English from Mount Union College and an M.A.
in English from the University of Akron. She is also a graduate of the National
School of Banking in Fairfield, Connecticut where she also serves as a faculty
member.
Karen enjoys helping clients create highly interactive and powerful training
programs as well as significant improvements to their business strategy.
